Purvanchal: The country's longest expressway, 7 railway overbridges, 525 minor bridges, fighter jets will also land on the highway

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated the Purvanchal Expressway in Uttar Pradesh. The 341 km long expressway has become the longest expressway in the country.

The expressway has 18 flyovers, 7 railway overbridges, 7 major bridges, 104 minor bridges, 13 interchanges, 5 ramp plazas, 271 underpasses, 525 culverts and 6 toll plazas.

The expressway will now have 8 petrol pumps, 4 CNG stations and a recharge station for electric vehicles.




This expressway is special compared to other expressways. A 3.2 km long air strip has been constructed on this expressway, the 34 m wide airstrip will be able to take off and land Air Force aircraft if required. A helipad will also be built here in the coming days.

Let me tell you, this expressway passes through nine districts of Uttar Pradesh. These include Lucknow, Barabanki, Amethi, Ayodhya, Sultanpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Mau and Ghazipur.

Five industrial clusters will be formed around this expressway. These industries include food and processing, refined, petroleum, chemical, electric equipments and medical and dental equipments. 9,197 hectares of land has also been earmarked for this.


Safety will be equally important on this expressway. Emergency Service 112 vehicles will be running on each package of the road. There will also be two ambulances on each package. Police checkpoints will also be set up on the expressway in the coming days.

Work on the Rs 22,500 crore expressway began in October 2018. This six-lane highway could be extended to eight lanes in the future.
