The result of Gujarat assembly election is the trailer of 2024

Gujarat results are 'semi-finals' for BJP ahead of 2024

It will help in the elections of the next four states

Even though the BJP had a clear victory in the Gujarat assembly elections from the start, PM Modi left no stone unturned to start campaigning in his home state. The Prime Minister is a natural and tireless campaigner who really enjoys addressing election rallies. On the other hand, now the exit polls are also predicting a huge victory for the BJP in Gujarat for a record seventh time.

What is the power of Prime Minister's meeting-rally?

Certainly the BJP, which has been in power in the state since 1995, could have won without the Chief Minister coming forward to lead. The only question was who would finish second and third in the race. Although the BJP has focused on the ground level, Modi has remained its brand ambassador and star campaigner, addressing rallies and establishing direct communication with voters. He had addressed around 35 rallies since November in which he reached out to farmers, youth and women with his message. In contrast, Rahul Gandhi addressed only two public rallies for the Congress in Gujarat.

Gujarat is Modi's home constituency where he has been the Chief Minister for over a decade. He is keen to strengthen the party's hold in the home state. This is part of his forward strategy to build his support and maintain the momentum for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. If this remains the case, he will lead the party in Parliament for the third time in a row. The Gujarat Election 2024 results will give an important indication of Modi's popularity in the national elections. Gujarat will provide a blueprint for the BJP's preparations for assembly elections in Karnataka, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and other states, including Madhya Pradesh, next year, including training party workers. BJP has prepared an action plan to win the 144 seats it lost in 2019 in the 2024 general elections.

Election analysts agree that the biggest factor in BJP's favor is Prime Minister Modi's appeal among voters. It is possible that his larger-than-life image of the "Emperor of Hindu Hearts" could do wonders for the party again. As chief minister of the state for 12 years from 2002, Modi refined his brand of staunch Hindu nationalism and established his own model of development and his own style of governance that is reflected in many of the country's national policies today. No wonder, then, that the Gujarat BJP wanted the Prime Minister to be the face of the party during its election campaign.

Modi has such influence in Gujarat that even the bridge collapse incident in Morbi district of the state a month ago could not become a major election issue. Contrary to expectations, the tragedy did not become the main subject of opposition attacks on the BJP. If there was a central figure, it was Narendra Modi.

Modi government not BJP government

PM Modi appeared larger than life throughout the Gujarat elections. No wonder BJP's electoral dictionary only has 'Modi Sarkar' and not 'BJP Sarkar'. This has already happened before, but this time BJP has asked for votes in the name of PM Modi. Despite being in power in Gujarat since 1995, the BJP has only mentioned the last 20 years of party rule in its campaign. For three weeks Modi campaigned in Gujarat almost every other day and addressed 3-4 rallies a day.

Personal attacks helped PM Modi

Every time the opposition has made personal attacks on PM Modi, his popularity has increased. In 2007, when Congress leader Sonia Gandhi called him a 'dealer of death', a rally in support of the BJP took place across Gujarat and the BJP won 117 seats in a no-issue election. The 2012 election was fought on the emotional issue of supporting Modi to become the Prime Minister of the country in 2014. The highest voter turnout in that assembly election was 71.3 percent.

In 2017, Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar called PM Modi 'ugly' and this highly publicized statement created a wave of sympathy in favor of PM Modi. However, the major issue in that election was the Patidar reservation movement for which the BJP suffered and its seats fell below 100. Now Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge called PM Modi '100-headed Ravana'. Kharge meant that PM Modi's face is used from Lok Sabha to civic elections. But BJP people left no stone unturned to capitalize on this statement for the party's interest.

Votes of sympathy found in Gujarat?

Modi has become aggressive to garner sympathy votes for the BJP. A personal attack on PM Modi is declared as an attack on the pride of Gujarat as the PM is the biggest personality of the state in this generation. This time the focus of BJP's campaign has been Gujarati identity and pride. PM Modi often chants 'Aa Gujarat mein panchai hai' in election rallies, which has given life to the rallies.
