In order to increase the green cover of trees in Ahmedabad city, the Municipal Corporation has decided to plant trees in different areas of the city including plots as well as riverfront using the 'Miyawaki' method of Japan. As a result, 45,000 trees will be planted and a mini forest will be planted next Tuesday on the site of the Biodiversity Park near Chandranagar Bridge on the Sabarmati Riverfront using the Japanese 'Miyawaki' method.

A biodiversity park will be erected on the riverfront

Home Minister Pradipsinh Jadeja will inaugurate the biodiversity phase 2 tree planting program at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore. A biodiversity park has been set up on the riverfront with 20,000 trees planted.

Standing Committee Chairman Hitesh Barot said in a conversation with Divya Bhaskar on the matter that 45,000 trees would be planted in the Biodiversity Park on the Sabarmati Riverfront by the Miyawaki method. 170 different types of trees like sandalwood, vermilion, cirrus, umro, blood sandalwood will be planted. Which attracts birds. First about 5,000 trees will be planted, then the remaining 40,000 trees will be planted in three months. Will be groomed for five years. The event is scheduled to be held at the hands of the Home Minister on Tuesday morning.

Trees become self-sufficient in just 2 years

This Miyawaki method makes the trees self-sufficient in just 2 years, compared to the current method of growing trees. Last year Narol planted 3,000 trees as a pilot project on the highway. In view of its success, it has been decided to cultivate 30 per cent of the 5 lakh big trees this year. With this method, fast, sustainable and chemical free forest area can be developed on different types of land. And it allows trees to grow faster.

How will the trees be planted?

Seedlings are planted at a distance of 6 to 12 inches. In the first year, the plant grows to a height of 12 to 15 feet. While in the second year a height of 20-25 feet occurs. Miyawaki trees absorb 30 times more carbon dioxide and grow 10 times faster. It can grow 30-40 types of trees. In two years, these trees become self-sufficient.
