Co-WIN – Government of India App for Vaccinators providing COVID-19 Vaccination


The year 2021 has begun with the good news of the covid vaccine.  Covishield and covacin vaccines have been approved.  The CoWIN app has been launched by the Union Ministry of Health to make the vaccine reach the people.  This app will help in real time monitoring of vaccine delivery.  Through the app, the government will be able to keep the data of vaccinated people safe.

Vaccination will be done after registration on this app.  However, the app is currently not available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store.  According to some reports, the production work of this app has not been completed yet.

What is the CoWIN app?

The Ministry of Health has clarified that corona vaccination will take place in 3 phases.

The registration process on the CoWIN app

5 modules of the Covin app

From this app the vaccination process will work on a platform for administrative activities, vaccination personnel and all those who are about to be vaccinated.  It includes Administrative Module, Registration Module, Vaccination Module, Beneficiary Acceptance Module and Report Module.

Administrative Module: The people who will manage the vaccination event.  They will determine the session through this module.  It will provide information to vaccinators and providers through notifications.

Vaccination module: will verify the information of people who have registered for vaccination and will also provide status update.

Beneficiary Acceptance Module: It will send a message to the recipients of the vaccine.  It will also generate a QR code and people will also get an e-certificate of the vaccine.

Report Module: The report of the vaccination program will be prepared through it.  Such as how many vaccination sessions were held, how many people got vaccinated, how many people registered but did not get vaccinated etc.





This Mobile Application is currently meant for CoWIN Facility level users to perform following tasks as Vaccinator , Supervisors and Surveyors.

1) Beneficiary Registration: supported identified priority group by Government of India, Beneficiary are often registered on the appliance .

2) Beneficiary Verification: Beneficiary's relevant details are often captured in encrypted form which may be utilised to make sure that vaccine is run to relevant Beneficiary. this is often applicable at the time of registration also as vaccination. Read also: Kutumb sahay yojna / Sankat Mochan Yojan

3) Aadhaar Authentication: to make sure de-duplication , Beneficiary's Aadhaar authentication are often done from the appliance within the sort of OTP and Demographic Authentication. this is often applicable at the time of registration or at the time of validation.

4) Vaccination Status: supported dose schedule, vaccination status of Beneficiary are often updated from not vaccinated to partially vaccinated and partially vaccinated to vaccination completion.

5) Reporting of Adverse Event following Immunization:

AEFI - Adverse Event following Immunization are often reported from the appliance .
