New Delhi: There has been no special announcement for government employees in the first budget of Modi government in 2019, like there has been no change in the tax slab, the income tax limit has not been increased. Now the government employees are waiting for the news which they get every six months, ie Dearness Allowance (DA). According to information received from the sources, this time the Modi government can increase the dearness allowance by 5%.

Assistant Secretary General of the All India Audit and Accounts Association Harishankar Tiwari, who is calculating DA, said that in the talks with Zee Business, the increase in dearness allowance is likely to increase by 5%. Because, in the Consumer Price Index (CPI), the number of inflation has increased in April, 2019. However, CPI statistics for June 2019 have not yet arrived.

3 years will be the most profitableIf the government decides, then the employees’ DA will increase to 17%. This will be the biggest increase in the DA after the 7th pay scale was introduced in 2016. That means central employees will get the most benefit in 3 years. In April, 312 was AICPIThe ‘All India Consumer Price Index’ (AICPI) of May 2019 has increased to 314, which was 312 and 309 respectively in April and March 2019. According to this data, the DA in January was 13.39 percent in January, which rose to 15.49 percent in April. Harishankar Tiwari said, if AICPI increased by 1 point in June and it remained stable at 314, then DA would increase by 5%. If it decreases, the DA can be reduced to 4%.

DA increased by 3% in JanuaryIn January 2019, the Central Government increased the dearness allowance by 3 percent. At that time AICPI was 307. On the basis of monthly basis, the DA was 13.39 percent. Earlier this year, DA was increased by 2% in July 2019. At the same time, AICPI 301 and DA were 10.36 percent. According to experts, if this index increases by 2 points in a month, the DA calculation will be based on 16 to 17%.
